About me

Welcome to Pitt Cottage Flowers. My name is Edmond. I’m an artisan flower grower and floral designer in Highclere, near Newbury, Berkshire.  I started Pitt Cottage Flowers in 2021 shortly after moving to Highclere post retirement. Having been a GP for 30 years, I decided that it was time to do something I’m passionate about.  I have always been interested in growing and gardening ever since I was a young boy.  I’m particularly successful with growing flowers.

I’m now in my fourth season of flower production.  I continue to learn and improve.  Each year brings its own challenges.  There’s never the perfect condition throughout the season.  I have learnt to adapt and accept what Mother Nature offers!

Although I’m a small scale grower, the quality and choice of flowers are comparable to bigger growers.  When you buy flowers from me, you can be sure that they were nurtured with the upmost care and attention, and are of the highest quality.  They have minimal intervention and are grown in harmony with the natural environment.  I don’t use any chemical fertilisers, pesticides or preservatives. Emphasis are on the eco-system and soil health.  The flowers I grow are carefully selected for their unique qualities - whether the scent, colour or form. They are totally different from supermarket flowers which tend to be mass produced and full of harmful chemicals.

As well as growing flowers, I acquired floral design skills.  I completed Philippa Craddock’s Floristry Fundamental Masterclass in 2020 and I’m a current active member of Joseph Massie’s Flower Class. Both of these inspirational tutors advocate sustainable techniques, and their individual styles have huge influence on my own.  All my designs are floral foam-free and bouquets are free from plastic wrapping.  I am a member of Flowers From The Farm, and obtained plastic free approved status from Surfers Against Sewage.

Local customers can buy my flowers either as arranged hand-tie bouquets or buckets for your own creations.  These can be purchased ad hoc or via a regular subscription - fortnightly or monthly from April to October.
